How to prepare for your session
Hey guys! Since the cold holiday season is hot in the world of photography, I get a lot of questions on how to prepare for sessions. What to wear, how to coordinate family members, etc. My biggest recommendation is to choose your theme or color palette and build from there.
Once you've selected your theme or palette, don't be afraid to pick a bright accent. You'd be surprised at how big of an impact they have on your finished photos. Little details may not seem like a big deal, but in a mainly denim theme Shae's red bow and boots pair well with Dawson's firetruck sweater and really highlight these little sweeties!! Layers also add character to your outfit!! Abby Libsack Photography has always been our go-to for family photos every year. Below are 2 photos she did for us!!
Another piece of advice is for your children to have full belly's and be well rested. Also be prepared for the climate, seasoned models can fake being warm when it's literally freezing outside, but your tiny toddler may not be so keen on the weather. And my final piece of advice is don't be afraid to be silly!! These type of photos really allow your personality to shine, and in years to come you'll appreciate a photo where you can almost hear your baby's laughter over a typically posed family style portrait.
Cheers!!
