Digital ban at weddings: Taboo, Tacky, or Totally Awesome? {Atlanta | Athens, Georgia | Wedding Photographer}

Ah, the wedding day,  such an exciting time in a bride and groom's lives. You spend months, sometimes years, planning every perfect detail. You have the vision for your dream day: the dress, the tux, the linens, the food, the venues, and photographer (that's me!)... but in any of your dreams and planning did you see your loved ones awestruck by your beauty or clamoring over who can get the best shot? As technology advances, intimacy is dwindling and our cell phones and tablets take precedence at big events. It is a competition of who posts to Facebook and Instagram fastest gets the prize of eternal glory!! photo cellphonewedding.jpg photo cellphonewedding3.jpg The new trend is a sign, delightfully posted for all of your friends and family, asking to enjoy the moment. I personally love this idea. It can be tastefully executed, in an elegant way: photo cellphonewedding2.jpg or in a whimsical, please don't provoke Bridezilla, kind of way: photo cellphonewedding4.jpg With so much planning, finances and emotions fully invested, who wouldn't want everyone to be present not just in attendance, but in the moment.  This is the most magical day of your adult life, you have found your one true love, and are swearing before God and your loved one's to cherish each othe- BEEP BEEP!!! Facebook notification:  You have a friend request. I have actually attended a wedding where every bridesmaid was on their cell phone at some point during the ceremony.  And that is my point. Unplug.  🙂  Some may say Taboo, some may say Tacky, but I say it's Totally Awesome to be unplugged and present for your special day.  And please remember, if your guests can't do it, than neither can you.  So don't be like this bride, because that is just not a good look!
